The Office of Career and Professional Development appreciates your support and looks forward to working with you to fulfill your employment needs. Please contact us if we can be of assistance.
The Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) welcomes all legal employers and is ready to work with you to create customized strategies for recruiting students and alumni for semester-long, summer, or post-graduate positions. The OCPD has developed a variety of flexible recruiting programs and is eager to help employers meet your hiring goals.
The OCPD is happy to post openings for summer, semester-long, entry-level or lateral positions. Employers may submit a job posting on the web-based data management system, Symplicity. This service is free for employers. Alternatively, you may send the information for posting directly to OCPD for posting at careers@law.ufl.edu.
The University of Florida Levin College of Law is required to ascertain that all employers engaged in recruiting our students and alumni are complying with state and federal requirements for non-discrimination in the selection of employees, and we must maintain documentation to that effect. In accordance with Bylaw 6-3 of the Association of American Law Schools, the University of Florida Levin College of Law provides our students and graduates with equal opportunities to obtain employment, without discrimination or segregation on the grounds of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender (including identity and expression), sexual orientation, age, or disability.
The OCPD cordially invites employers to participate in our Fall and Spring On-Campus Interview (OCI) Programs. These programs provide employers with opportunities to interview our outstanding students for summer and post-graduate employment positions. Employers may choose to recruit in Gainesville or virtually.
Fall Recruiting: Employers are welcome to participate in our fall recruiting programs, which include the Early Interview Week (EIW) and Fall OCI Program. Employers may interview 2L students for summer positions and 3L and LL.M. students for entry-level positions. EIW takes place in July, and Fall OCI runs from August to October of each year. Employers may also participate in resume collection programs at any time during the fall. You may register for a Resume collect here, for EIW here, or for OCI here.
Spring Recruiting: Employers are welcome to participate in our Spring OCI Program running from February through April and to participate in resume collection programs throughout the spring semester. Employers may interview 1L and 2L students for summer positions and 3L and LL.M. students for entry-level positions.
For any questions regarding our On-Campus Interview Programs, please contact Andrea Cormier, Assistant Director of Recruiting, at andreacormier@law.ufl.edu.
The University of Florida Levin College of Law Externship program allows 2L and 3L students to work between 8 and 17 hours per week for credit while also taking in-person classes at the law school. 3L students are also eligible to participate in our Semester in Practice (SIP) program, in which students work 20-38 hours per week for credit in the location of their choice. Externships may be approved at a wide variety of sites locally or nationwide, including state or federal courts; federal, state, or local agencies; public interest or legal services organizations; or a corporate general counsel’s office.
If your organization is interested in becoming an approved externship site, please contact externships@law.ufl.edu.
