Summer Experiences
Externships (up to 6 credits): Students may work with faculty to secure externship placements with in-house counsel at sports management, entertainment, or media companies, or sports organizations. Existing placements include the LPGA and Women’s Sports Foundation.
Other Information
Students may take up to 6 credit hours of coursework outside of the law school that count toward the J.D. degree. Courses in new media and communications technology that support this practice area, such as Introduction to Multimedia Communication, and Introduction to Social Media, may be available in the College of Journalism and Communications; and courses in sports management may be available in the College of Health and Human Performance. Students should consult the course catalog for the relevant department and then discuss the course with a law school advisor to determine whether it makes sense to take the course. Students may also wish to pursue a joint degree program to earn a Master’s degree in one of these fields along with their law degree.
