UF Law Announces $4 Million Gift
University of Florida Levin College of Law is pleased to announce a $4 million gift from an anonymous donor to support the Graduate Tax Program – a commitment that will also unlock a matching contribution from UF Law alum and UF Board of Trustees member Richard Cole (JD 74) as part of the new Cole Legacy Challenge.
The gift was announced on November 14, 2025, during the celebration honoring Professor Dennis Calfee’s retirement and his 50 years of teaching and service at UF Law.
“Tonight, I’m also very pleased to announce another chapter in this legacy. An anonymous donor has stepped forward with a new gift – a $4 million pledge – that once realized, will benefit the Graduate Tax Program,” said UF Law Dean Merritt McAlister to a room of more than 350 students, faculty, alumni and friends gathered on UF’s campus.

This new $4 million commitment releases matching funds through the Cole Legacy Challenge, amplifying its impact and strengthening the future of the law school for years to come.
“This incredible donor who has given this generous $4 million gift wishes to remain anonymous but suffice it to say they were profoundly influenced by Professor Calfee,” Dean McAlister added. “And this gift will ensure that the Graduate Tax Program continues to thrive for generations to come.”
