Kristen V. Hardy is a Senior Legal Skills Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Prior to joining the law school faculty, Professor Hardy taught Lawyering Skills II/Legal Research and Writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago John Marshall Law School and Federal Courts at Penn State Dickinson Law.
Prior to joining academia, Professor Hardy spent nearly a decade as a law clerk for the federal judiciary. As a federal law clerk, she served the late Judge Stephan P. Mickle of the Northern District of Florida, Judge Mary S. Scriven of the Middle District of Florida, and the late Judge Thomas B. Smith of the Middle District of Florida. Professor Hardy began her law career in private practice as an attorney at a large international law firm.
Professor Hardy brings extensive small business and nonprofit expertise. She has substantial experience advising nonprofit organizations, community development corporations, and small businesses on strategic planning, contract drafting, and other business matters. She holds certificates in nonprofit governance, proposal writing, and board orientation from the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership at Rollins College.
Professor Hardy embraces innovative approaches to teaching adult learners both in-person and in online environments. She routinely speaks at national conferences on the topic of legal skills pedagogy and leveraging artificial intelligence in the classroom.
Professor Hardy was recently awarded the Great Teaching Certificate and the Great Online Teaching Certificate from the University of Florida’s Center for Teaching Excellence. Professor Hardy is a recipient of the University of Florida’s Rising Star university-wide excellence in teaching award.
