About
Stacy Biggart is a Legal Skills Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and teaches Legal Writing, Persuasive Writing, Pre-Trial Practice, and Trial Practice. She also serves as a coach for the Florida Trial Team. Professor Biggart is passionate about helping law students develop the skills to be successful litigators.
Prior to joining academia, Professor Biggart practiced law for twenty years in the areas of civil and criminal litigation and capital postconviction. She began her career as a public defender in the Richland County Public Defender’s Office in Columbia, South Carolina, where she gained extensive trial experience and represented hundreds of indigent clients. She also worked as the in-house litigation manager for Southeastern Freight Lines, a regional trucking company headquartered in South Carolina. After relocating to Florida, Professor Biggart worked for civil defense firms representing trucking companies, restaurants and hotels, apartment complexes, nursing homes, and physicians. In 2016, she returned to her roots in indigent criminal defense to represent clients on Florida’s death row in Florida state courts, the Florida Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
Professor Biggart is a member of the Florida bar and admitted to practice law in Florida state courts, the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court.
