We are so pleased that you’ve chosen the University of Florida Levin College of Law for your legal studies! Just follow these simple steps to accept your offer.

Deferring Or Declining Your Offer

Deferring Your Offer

The Admissions Committee will consider requests from admitted students to defer their offer of admission for one year on a case-by-case basis.

To request a deferral of their admission, admitted students must formally request permission from the Admissions Committee in writing by emailing admissions@law.ufl.edu. The email must explain why the deferral is being requested and provide any supporting documentation that the admitted student wishes the Committee to consider. Requesting a deferral does not guarantee an affirmative response to the request.

If the Committee grants a one-year deferral of admission, the deferral is solely of the offer of admission and not inclusive of the scholarship offer, if any. Instead, the applicant will be reconsidered for scholarship alongside applicants in the next cycle. The admitted student will also be required to execute a Deferred Enrollment Agreement, provided in the email granting the deferral.

Admitted students with questions about deferred enrollment should contact the Admissions Office.

Declining Your Offer

We encourage admitted students to notify the Admissions Office as soon as possible after making a decision about where to attend to open a seat for other qualified applicants. Admitted students who wish to decline their offer of admission and scholarship, if applicable, must submit an online form. An email alone will not finalize withdrawal. The link to this form will be provided in correspondence from the Admissions Office.
