About the Technology, Media, & Privacy Law Conference
The Technology, Media, & Privacy Law Conference addresses how technological advancements are reshaping privacy and free speech issues in the fields of law, journalism, and public policy. During 2020, the perils of COVID-19 and misuse of deadly force by police officers put a sharp point on concerns for transparency and informational privacy. In this virtual gathering, experts from law, media, and nonprofit advocacy will examine how government monopolization of data can exacerbate risk to vulnerable populations — and how invasive law enforcement technologies can amplify those risks.
The TMPL conference is hosted by the Center for Governmental Responsibility (CGR) at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and the Brechner Center for Freedom of Information at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.
The 2021 Technology, Media & Privacy Conference will be held on Zoom and is free. Florida CLE credits: 8.5 general credits and 6.5 technology credits from The Florida Bar.
