Thank you! UF Law has met the Culverhouse Challenge
UF Law is proud to announce the successful completion of the Culverhouse Challenge, a fast-paced initiative to support student scholarships as we enroll our next class of 1L students. You will help shape the future of UF Law for decades to come. Thank you to everyone who helped us meet this challenge!
“Your money is well spent. You probably don’t know the impact it has on our lives. It’s the difference between being able to go somewhere and not being able to go somewhere. It’s like giving us the choice to catapult our future.”
— Jessica Beugen (2L)
“It’s also a great chance to meet a lot of people, not only from the states, but from all over the world, because it has a great variety of nationalities and students from different cultures and backgrounds, and I had a chance to meet them all in one class. This is a great opportunity that nobody should miss.”
— Mohamed Mostafa (LLM 17, Comparative Law)
“One of the most surprising things coming to UF was how friendly everyone was here. We have a lot of people from different backgrounds but everyone embraced diversity, no matter your political views or your view of society was. That was extremely endearing in coming here.”
— Samuel “Benny” Menaged (JD 17)
“If I were to meet the donor of my scholarship or anyone who supports student scholarships, all I could say is, ‘Thank you so much and I can’t wait to be in a position to give back.'”
— Rachel DeLoach (JD 17)

Your collective $1.5M have unlocked Hugh Culverhouse’s $1.5M gift and UF Provost Joe Glover’s $1.5M match
The Culverhouse Challenge marks a turning point in UF Law’s history, and we need your help. Hugh Culverhouse (JD 74) inspired this challenge by providing $1.5 million in cash for incoming student scholarships – if, and only if, the UF community raises an additional $1.5 million in cash by the first day of classes on August 14, 2017. As of late June, UF Provost Joe Glover has also agreed to provide a $1.5 million contribution, yielding $4.5 million for student scholarships. This is an opportunity we must seize. It’s what Gator lawyers do. We see every challenge as opportunity – opportunities to change the world. Our historic climb from 48 to 41 in the US News rankings in just one year is only the beginning. If we make the right choices today, UF Law will take its rightful place among our nation’s most elite public law schools.
We must recruit extraordinary students with excellent credentials, diverse backgrounds, and varied life experiences. Scholarships are critical to achieving this mission. Last year, UF Law ranked a disheartening 182 out of 204 law schools in the median grant awarded to students. We can no longer accept this.
The high cost of legal education and the specter of crushing debt upon graduation have made legal education out of reach for far too many. Your support of student scholarships significantly defrays the cost of legal education for our students, enabling them to enter the careers of their choosing. You make possible the next generation of great lawyers, innovators, and public servants. That is the UF Law tradition – a tradition you sustain through your tireless commitment and zealous advocacy.
No gift is too large or too small. Give today as part of the Culverhouse Challenge, and spread the word to your family, friends, and colleagues. To make your gift by phone, by mail, in memory or honor of someone, via wire transfer, or for other options, please contact the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs at 352-273-0640 or development@law.ufl.edu, or view our Ways to Give page.
The Culverhouse Challenge ends on August 14, 2017
